You made your bed, now lie in it…

I believe that I’ve finally figured out what it will take to make the liberal proponents of Government Healthcare see things from the conservative side of the argument.

Before I show you my idea though, we need to get one thing straight… conservatives are not opposed to fixing the issues that need to be fixed (i.e. helping those that truly need the help with healthcare).  What conservatives are opposed to is the eventual single payer, GOVERNMENT healthcare solution.  Conservatives don’t look to government as the first solution to every problem.

Liberals, you have a laser-like focus on passing this healthcare bill (by any means necessary). While you are focusing on that goal however, you are losing sight of something. It’s the thing that makes conservatives realize that government is not the answer to our problems.

You are not going to be in power forever - even if the current congress tries to “deem” it so. Eventually (probably starting this November) you lose your grasp of power, and the Republicans will hold the reigns. When that happens, guess who will be in charge of your healthcare decisions if the current bill is made into law.

You feel safe now, when your party is in charge.  Do you really think that the Democrats will always be in control of your day-to-day healthcare decisions?  How would you have liked government healthcare if George Bush were in charge? How about Karl Rove?  Dick Cheney?  How would you feel with a medical rationing panel made up of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Ann Coulter?

Better yet, think of the two people on the political right that just make your blood boil and your mouths foam in anger?  Now, think about this…

A Study in Contrasts: Barack Obama & Chris Christie

The following post originally appeared on my Examiner.com page. You can access the original posting by clicking here.

Shakespeare once posed the question “to be or not to be” in his famous tragedy Hamlet. In today’s political culture New Jersey residents are treated to the contrasting economic policies of “to spend or not to spend.”

Locally in our state capitol of Trenton, we have our new governor boldly proclaiming:

“Today, we are fulfilling the promise of a smaller government that lives within its means. Today, we begin doing what we promised we would do. The defenders of the status quo have already begun to yell and scream. They will try to demonize me. They will seek to divide us rather than unite us. But even they know in their hearts, if not yet in their minds – it is time for a change. “

Nationally in Washington we have Vice President Biden, when he isn’t busy mumbling “God rest her soul” about an Irish leader’s mom who is still alive in a moment eerily similar to his 2008 campaign appearance calling upon a man in a wheelchair to “Stand up!” repeatedly, telling us we need to spend more to get out of debt and that higher taxes are patriotic.

While Governor Christie cuts over $10 billion dollars from the state budget in Trenton in hopes of bringing back fiscal solvency to our bankrupt state government, President Obama is attempting to “fundamentally transform” America by outspending all previous forty-three presidents in his first year alone.

Governor Christie promises that “today, we stop sweeping problems under the rug. We will not hide our problems until another day. And we are certainly not increasing the tax burden we place upon our people,” as he brings common sense back into the tabulation of the state budget. By contrast, President Obama’s folks intentionally structure their radical socialist government ursurpation of the healthcare industry so that we begin paying extra taxes this year (2010) to fund the project that won’t begin running until 2014 just so that it can look like it is fiscally stable on paper (by comparing 10 years of taxing and paying for it with in actuality only 6 years of paying out and even then it barely breaks even.)

By the time the American people realize that they have been bamboozled, Obama will be long gone, no doubt canoodling with Anita Dunn and Bill Ayers in the world of academia while they admire the glorious revolution of genocidal madman/human rights violator and harbinger of Communism, Chairman Mao.

Obama and his allies in congress plot to use taxpayer money to fund abortion because as unnamed democratic operatives have reportedly told Representative Bart Stupak, “If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more.” As Stupak laments, “Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue — come on, we can find room in the budget. This is life we’re talking about.”

In New Jersey, however, Governor Christie has cut all $7.6 million dollars dedicated from the state to Planned Parenthood. All of it. In New Jersey, the state with the second highest teenage abortion rate in the country.

Since taking office in January, Governor Christie has already saved the state $13 billion in spending, which amounts to $9 million dollars per hour since taking office. By contrast, President Obama’s budget deficit has reached record heights, and this is before factoring in the ridiculous amounts of money that will be necessary to keep the Obamacare behemoth financially solvent.

Governor Christie has proposed not only line by line spending cuts, but a spending cut in every department of the state. Meanwhile, President Obama has increased spending across the board–except in defense spending, which he decreased–we don’t want the peaceful and misunderstood Jihadists or the president’s new best friends in Iran, Venezuela or Cuba to get offended by our arsenal.

New Jersey’s budget is being negatively impacted by the Obama stimulus money. The money which was supposed to be spend little by little over a period of years was spent in one lump sum by the Wizard of Wall Street Jon Corzine and then added as an additional expense in this fiscal year without any idea of how to fund it.

In other words, the stimulus worked just as Governor Palin and Governor Perry warned us that it would. It created new “jobs” or “programs” that the state then had to pick up the tab on the following year. Obama’s stimulus is having the same effect across the country where states are begging for more table scraps from our glorious leader as they face even worse budget deficits thanks to Obama’s goodies.

By contrast, Governor Christie is putting into place strict guidelines that will help force local municipalities and school districts to tighten their own financial belts as well or risk losing all state support. In so doing, Christie is ensuring that his frugality at the state level is not merely passed on to the taxpayer by drunker sailor themed spending binges by local government. This was the reason that Christie Whitman’s economic policies did nothing to help New Jersey’s taxpayers and actually made the situation we are currently in much worse.

In his budget address, Governor Christie cited the example made by Massachusetts when it faced a similar budget crisis. By placing a mandatory cap on the growth of government the state was able to go from 3rd place to 33rd place in terms of its property tax burden.

Christie builds a model for success, by making bold moves supported by the will of the people designed to bring about common sense. His approach to governing thus far is one of a tough, no-nonsense reformer.

Should we expect anything less from the man who was a successful prosecutor who took down corruption throughout the state and in both parties prior to his election?

On the other hand, “change” agent President Obama looks not to other successful models of economic growth or healthcare reform, but to failed dictatorships and the failed ideology of Marxism to find inspiration. Although even Communist China is becoming more free market oriented in order to grow its economy, President Obama still enamored with Marx’s idea of utopia, seems hellbent on abandoning capitalism completely. His healthcare plan is but a “first step” to “fundamentally change” the system from market-based to government-based. (A goal admitted by Rep. Rob Andrews as reported in a previous column.) Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried, and yet the greatest, most prosperous nation in the history of the world is abandoning its union with free market capitalism in pursuit of the harlot of socialism.

Should we expect anything less from a man who was raised by communist wolves at every turn of his life?

The people of New Jersey have front row seats to the epic battle of dueling ideologies in the era of hope and change. Perhaps little New Jersey, who played such an important role in America’s first struggle for freedom, will once again lead the way for America.

More Unethical, Unconstitutional Democrat Maneuvering.

The Democrat-controlled statist press trumpets that ‘more’ anti-abortion votes have been peeled off (they haven’t, they’re talking about the same two from last week and they may not stick), and changes have been made to get the pro-life Democrat holdouts back on board (that’s a lie too, nothing has been changed, they are talking about a ‘promise’ to change the language in ’sidecar’ legislation).

Rent-a-crowd inside…..

‘If wishes were fishes’ seems to be the thrust of the House Madam’s entire strategy. To show you how popular this whole thing is… Sarah Palin isn’t running for anything… she draws 20,000 people in appearance after appearance, she draws more than 4,000 people to a book signing. Barack Hussein Obama has trouble drawing 200 hand-picked union goons in a senior center in Ohio, while outside thousands of patriots protested the government takeover of health care and the unethical actions of the Democrat Congress. Obama trotted out and cited the obligatory medical sob-stories and cited the same sad case histories he’s been dragging out all year. He’s getting to sound a lot like the proverbial broken record.

….and the real crowd outside.

After a ‘rip and tear’ head count, John Batchelor and some of his associates came out with some advice on his nationally-syndicated radio show for Madame Pelosi… “get a plan B”. John echoed what most of the rest of the close observers of all things Washington have said, that despite Obama’s and Pelosi’s continuing proclamations of imminent victory, they don’t have the votes. Pelosi’s romancing the so called “deem and pass” tactic could well prove disastrous for Democrat hopes in 2010 and 2012 and may be resisted by many who are not willing to go down in flames with the leadership.

Resorting to such a tactic, which is patently unconstitutional, will throw the nation into a constitutional crisis and inflame the American people to levels never before seen.

Don’t forget to contact the Representatives on the list below by any means possible. Don’t just give up if you can’t get through on the Capitol phones. It’s a safe bet most will be shut down, on purpose if not by the sheer volume of calls. Email, fax, use snail mail, visit your local Senators’ and Representatives’ offices. Be persistent. Tell them we say NO!!

Palin should not run in 2012

How do you solve a problem like Sarah?

I remember where I was when the “yawn, it’s going to be Pawlenty, we’re gonna lose by 20″ head fake gave way to

omg omg omg
OMG OMG OMG
OMG OMG OMG

OMG OMG OMG

IT’S SARAH PALIN !!!!!!!

At that time I knew her basic story, knew she was an up-and-coming pretty hard conservative like Jindal, and was known to be a second-tier suspect in the VP derby. Yes, I had seen a picture or two as well. This was my catalog of information on Sarah Palin. McCain picked a young and exciting conservative, a female, and a looker. Her speech on the day of her nomination was short and inspiring, a bombshell in a race that had mired all conservatives and most Republicans in slow-motion hell. The leftist media immediately and ferociously pounced on this attractive, magnetic woman, cruelly dragging her pregnant daughter into the spotlight. That story literally led off every hourly newscast in TV and radio for weeks [finally sending Andy Sullivan to a permanent rubber room address].

Then the convention speech happened. It was off the charts, it was watched by nearly 40 million people, it was unapologetically and unerringly conservative, it showed Sarah Palin in all her charisma and her down-to-earth charm. It set the conservative world on fire, single-handedly breathing life into the GOP’s election efforts, even putting the McCain campaign briefly ahead in the polls.

By then the seeds were already sown for where we are today with respect to 2012.

John Ziegler, whose signature work is Media Malpractice - How Obama Got Elected [we watched it at RedState's Atlanta gathering!] has blossomed into a filmmaker and pundit of note, routinely appearing on the TV talk shows, and writing a regular column for the Daily Caller. His excellent column today explains Why Palin shouldn’t run in 2012, and I’ll cite him in some detail here.

These people are simply *insane*.

You know, I had a fairly elaborate rant planned out over this bizarre Leno/Palin applause faux-scandal Allahpundit found (no direct link: frankly, the original ‘revelation’ was porn - and boring, over-specialized porn at that) and was likewise gobsmacked over - but I realized that my last paragraph was all that you needed for a response.  So here it is:

So, how far into Crazyland has the netroots gone when it comes to Sarah Palin?  Let me put it this way: I now wait in breathless anticipation for the day that someone in the Online Left announces that they’re about to be given incontrovertible evidence that she’s secretly a Jew.

The 2008 election is over, people.  When can we expect to start seeing that the Other Side has, you know, moved on?

Sarah Palin Not Smart Enough To Be President

Although, Barack Obama is the smartest man to ever become president. The smartest man to ever become president doesn’t know how to create jobs, he doesn’t understand the fundamentals of economics, he’s the smartest guy to ever have a cabinet full of people who are smarter and more experienced than he is, and he’s so smart he only has a press conference where he gives a speech but doesn’t take any questions afterward. You see where I’m going here? Apparently Chris Matthews the host of Hard On and Ron Reagan the dog show announcer with a failed radio program think Sarah Palin is just some dumb former governor turned celebutician with a “hot librarian” look. But I have yet to hear anyone challenge these two sad cases on this notion that Barack Obama is this smart, intellectual being. In fact if you really think about it, most people who have common sense (Palin) tend to be much more aware intellectually of the world than those who gained knowledge not from real world experiences but from years of manufactured college curriculum. Again, if Obama is the smartest man walking the earth as everyone throughout his life has told him, why were his transcripts from college sealed in the temple of doom never to be released to the public?

We all found out that Palin transferred from school to school finally ended up at the University of Idaho. The media did their job and rightfully so, we’re supposed to know everything short of personal information about our presidents and potential presidents. It’s called an open society, but when it comes to Obama for some reason the smartest man in the world can’t actually prove it. That’s like someone saying they can run faster than a cheetah, and every time you want to see them race a cheetah they say their leg is hurting. I don’t understand this running gag inside the beltway that Palin is dumb because she’s plain spoken and went to a state university, yet Obama is smart because he went to Harvard, and yet no one has ever seen his grades. Or maybe they have and he ain’t as smart as they say he is. What makes Palin smarter and more aware than Obama is the fact that she openly admits her ups and downs as a college student and how she is willing to learn more as a potential political figure. With Obama, he doesn’t have to learn about anything, he already knows everything.

I have some words of wisdom for our genius in chief: You better start wanting to learn more or you’ll get your hat handed to you like you did at the Health Care Summit. The fact is Mr. President you looked out debated, out smarted, and the likes of Paul Ryan who I believe is ten times the intellectual you’ll ever be, or pretend to be will run circles around you in future debates. By the way I know this might make many of you uncomfortable but I’m going to say this: Ron Reagan is a real disgrace. The guy is a complete fool who spends his time every other year talking about dogs. His radio show is an utter failure and I believe Ronald Reagan appreciated the relationship he had with Mike Reagan more than the one he had with Ron, and I think when people bring that up it cuts Ron deep because he knows its true. Ronald Reagan would be disappointed in that failed radio show hack. By the way, it’s never a good thing when the son looks like the mother….Never good.

Scott Brown, Ron Paul, The CPAC Straw Poll and 2012

It Is Not 2012 Yet. And We Have Lessons To Learn Before It Is.

Let’s talk just a little about the 2012 presidential election. I’d like to make three related points:

(1) Nobody should be touting Scott Brown as a 2012 presidential candidate.

(2) The GOP is going to be picking from a bench that is short on candidates with the experience we need.

(3) It’s a good thing that Ron Paul won the “straw poll” of 2012 candidates at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last week.

Sarah Palin, Sean Duffy, and You

Pardon me if you’ve heard this one already. I’m running around CPAC and have missed the news.

Governor Palin has gone all in with Sean Duffy and Charlie Cook is now saying David Obey is in trouble.

Coincidence? Probably not.

Duffy is RedState’s candidate up there. I hope you’ll consider joining Governor Palin and us in supporting him. The refreshing thing about Governor Palin is her willingness to get into contested primaries. That’s the type of risk and reward I was talking about this morning.

Let’s get Sean Duffy elected.

Conservative-Republican-Patriot Meld… No Third Party.

As much as the Democrats/liberals/progressives/greens/socialists/communists (calling them what they are makes them mad) would love to drive a wedge between the Republican Party and its patriot components, the newly activated grass roots Independents and ‘Tea Baggers’, it looks like they will be disappointed again.

As usual, the statists took exactly the wrong message from the Tea Party Convention. What they reported on was Sarah Palin’s crib notes, ignoring the fact that she delivered a near flawless address of 40 minutes to universal acclaim, both at the convention and across the nation, with six words scribbled on her hand, while Barack Obama can’t speak to sixth grade students without his teleprompters and has trouble delivering two cogent sentences extemporaneously. Further, they isolated the presentation of featured speakers to make the messages appear as divisive as theirs is. What they missed in their eagerness to trash people like Sarah Palin, Tom Tancredo, Andrew Breitbart and others, was the UNANIMITY of purpose and the consistency of the message.

Sarah Palin

Unlike the mental and philosophical lockstep demanded by liberal dogma, Conservatives can and do disagree… sometimes vociferously. But they have one thing in common that the statist lacks and furthermore, cannot comprehend. It’s the PRINCIPLE of Patriotism, a deep and abiding love of the country and the freedoms that have been gained and maintained for us at so great a cost. It’s a love for the wisdom of the founders and those most miraculous of all documents, inspired by God and given to the hand of these wise and Godly men. Our Constitution, our Declaration of Independence and our Bill of Rights.

That’s what has been re-awakened across these fifty United States. It’s why the statist/liberal/Marxist ideology will fail. It’s why we will sweep the Democrats from power in November and why Barack Obama will be a one-term President, remembered only as an unpleasant blot on history.
To the chagrin of the left there will be no third party. There will be one party, one people united in purpose and in our love for this GREATEST country on Earth.
God Bless America.

My Take On Things

I’m not one to support the idea of policing speech or, political correctness. So whenever I have the chance to level a highly vulgar or controversial assessment of the state of my country or the culture I never balk at such an opportunity, after all we never know when that right will fast fade into memory. But I have to stand on the side of innocence and integrity. I have to oppose this Family Guy episode in which Chris, the older brother takes a girl with down syndrome out on a date. In the scene the girl tells him about herself and she says quote, “My mom used to be the governor of Alaska” or something to that effect, I’m paraphrasing mind you. Nonetheless it strikes me as gutless when a forty something year old man goes after a little baby. But it really highlights the lack of balls when a forty something year old man goes after a little baby with down syndrome. Now, I heard the Hollywood left defend MacFarlane and I don’t buy the argument. This wasn’t Sarah Palin’s fault and yet they tried to make it seem like her criticism of Rahm Emanuel’s use of the word retard and her excusing Rush Limbaugh when he used to word opened the doors for attacks on her son Trig.

And again, so what if Sarah Palin did open the door, what does her son have to do with anything? However, this isn’t some uncommon theme when it comes to all things Sarah Palin. A liberal blogger made a comment stating that quote, “Sarah Palin is responsible for increasing the population of retarded people.” I don’t know what it is about this woman that gets them so upset and so unhinged but apparently she makes them so angry they feel the need to attack her child. But that boy can’t defend himself and I’m not trying to paint him as some helpless nothing but the fact is he can’t. And when I see Sarah Palin on Fox having to defend herself and her family against these attacks I can read the pain and sadness on her face. I don’t blame her either, no one would invite such harsh smears against their family, especially their children. When Barack Obama said clearly: “My wife is off limits” the media didn’t blink twice, they obeyed. But Sarah Palin can forget about it, her family are not only fair game, their used as a way to hurt her twice as much.

There’s this venom, an extra dose of venom that goes into each attack leveled at her and it stuns me it really does. I honestly in my young years growing up in this media age and personality age have never seen a person that draws such pure disdain and malcontent vitriol as Sarah Palin. And for what? Again, she strikes me as a nice person who reminds me of a room mom or a teacher I had in high school. I can imagine Sarah Palin teaching biology or gym, but I could very much imagine Michele Obama as one of the smug administrators or assistant principle. Maybe I’m naive, or in the words of Three Doors Down, maybe I’m just blind. I don’t understand the hatred for this woman, I really don’t.

I do know one thing, the left is on borrowed time. And in the words of Danny Glover from Lethal Weapon 4: “You can’t beat the clock Riggs.”
